How to #BreakUpIn5Words: Twitter users go mad for pithy break-up lines

Twitter users have shared a variety of ways you can break up with someone in just five words.

Inspired by a website that takes the pain out of breaking up by offering to do it for you, Comedy Central show Midnight asked its guests to come up with their best five-word break-ups.

The concept went global, sparking short but far from sweet tweets such as "it does make you fat".

On the US show, hosted by Chris Hardwick, comedians offered: "Your dad's a good kisser" and "Ding ding ding, I'm gay!" as break-up lines.

But top of the Twitter charts was Beau Brooks' break-up-inducing confession, "I ate all your fries", with nearly 3,000 likes and over 2,000 retweets.

Food seemed to be a common theme with the likes of: "Food is better than you", and "Milk expired. That's a sign."

Even musician James McVey from band The Vamps joined the conversation tweeting: "Sorry, I prefer eating cake".

Fans of TV series Friends would have no doubt appreciated "I Ross, take thee Rachel".

Referring to family seemed to be another favourite with Dexter Manning declaring: "Mom, this is really weird".

@yesitsthatcon put a family twist on the "We can still be friends" line with "We can still be cousins".

Adele fans would have appreciated Cristela Alonzo's "Here's an Adele CD for you" while young girls likely retweeted "Sorry, you're not Harry Styles".

Others took a more direct approach with "Sorry I wet the bed", "I saw your browser history" and, for Tinder users, "I meant to swipe left".
