British hair trend expert Zoe Irwin told Femail: "We're seeing glass hair everywhere right now, with celebrities like Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Olivia Culpo all wearing it with a super blunt bob. The look works particularly well with shorter hair and it really flatters the jaw too."
Taking to Instagram to address Kim's sleek bob, Chris explained: "I've been getting a lot of questions about @kimkardashian super sharp bob so I thought I would answer some! The inspiration was 90s swishy glass hair. I wanted to create a really intense shine and for the hair.
"I cut Kim's hair shorter than we've ever done before just underneath the jaw line, keeping the cut blunt with no angle. For me getting an intense shine was really important part of our look."
Stylist Cash Lawless added of the trend: "We first saw polish and shine in a glass-like manner popularized by Vidal Sasson in the sixties. He was achieving immense levels of shine on short geometric cuts. Now, videos have began to go viral and hairstylists started picking up on the trend."
Meanwhile Chris Appleton told InStyle that the key to achieving the 'weightless' look was to use shampoo free of silicones, conditioners, or thickeners that could leave a film on the hair.
Speaking to Femail, GHD ambassador Zoe revealed just how to achieve the look in five simple steps.
"To recreate the look, blow dry hair and use a root lift spray for added hold. This will create the base for the look. Next, the key is using a shine spray before you style your hair for that glass-like shine.
"Lightly mist all over hair before styling – don't spray too much as it will make your hair look limp but enough to add elements of shine. Finish by running a straightener over the hair and carefully pressing it gently to illuminate any last frizz or kinks."
