On the Christmas toy front, iconic Lego and Star Wars toys continue to capture the imagination and are a "foolproof" gift option, Mr Ford said.
"Both toy brands have reinvented themselves and appeal to parents and kids alike," he said.
The site typically experiences a hike in activity in the lead up to Christmas, with Nielson figures showing more than 700,000 domestic unique browsers visited the site every day this month.
An increase in "couch commerce" was cited, with New Zealanders increasingly turning to tablets and mobile devices for their internet shopping.
"Purchasing expectations are now a case of anything, anytime, anywhere. We see this reflected in the proportion of mobile usage now hovering at around 45 per cent of all TradeMe's site visits across our platforms."
