When Heidi Klum goes to the beach she likes to wear as little as possible. She says she hates coming home and finding her tan ruined by bikini lines.
That's why her favourite piece in her new swimwear line with Bendon, Heidi Klum Swim, is the classic triangle bikini, shetold the Herald in Auckland this morning.
"I love super small because I don't like tan lines," she said, laughing.
Klum is in New Zealand to promote her new swimwear range with New Zealand-based lingerie company Bendon.
It's the German model and reality TV star's second time in New Zealand, after her visit in January last year when she took over from supermodel Elle Macpherson as the face of Bendon in Australasia.
Last year the mother of four lamented she didn't get to see much of what New Zealand has to offer and this time it's the same.
"I just see the inside of hotel rooms."
The star flew into Auckland late last night and will fly to Sydney this afternoon.
Klum, 42, is best known for her role as host and judge on the reality TV show Project Runway, where designers compete to win a prize, including the money to launch his or her own business.
When asked which Project Runway designer she would most like to collaborate with on a new line of swimwear design, Klum hinted the two projects might combine in the future.
"On the new season of Project Runway there could be a challenge where the designers have to create something for my swimwear line."
Heidi Klum Swim is the latest expansion of Klum's fashion empire and is the first time Bendon will tackle swimwear.
For those who don't share the super-fit model's love of skimpy swimwear, never fear, Klum promises there will be something for everyone in the range.
She said she understood the self-consciousness which could come with the "near-nakedness" of being at the beach and had included one pieces and longer two pieces as well as string bikinis in her line.
Heidi Klum Swim will be priced in the same range as her Intimates lingerie.
