A New Zealand businessman stood up before a national television audience to ask his girlfriend to marry him - and now he is drinking champagne with her in celebration.

Todd Fuller, an Auckland advertising sales manager, appeared on a TV One ad - costing $2000 - to pop the question to his girlfriend at 8.55am today.
