Captain Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) and his salvage crew are approached by Ferriman (Desmond Harrington), a weather spotter for the Canadian Air Force. Ferriman believes he has discovered a huge liner drifting at sea and thinks it might be the Antonia Graza, an Italian ship which disappeared
during a cruise to America in the 60s.
Ferriman offers Murphy and his shipmates the chance to stake a claim to the liner and its cargo of gold bullion. The deal is done, and Ferriman accompanies first mate Epps (Julianna Margulies), Dodge (Ron Eldard), Greer (Isaiah Washington), Munder (Karl Urban, yep, our Karl Urban) and Santos (Alex Dimitriades) to the Bering Strait.
They find the deserted Antonia Graza and board the ship to loot it. However, a ghostly force lurks below decks ... hence the title, hence the ensuing hour of horror movie cliches.
