In anticipation of the arrival of Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton and their son Prince George, we take a look at images tracing the history of royal visits to NZ.

Beginning in 1869 with an illustration of the Duke and Edinburgh arriving to our shores, up to Prince William's last visit here in 2011 following the Christchurch earthquake, and, of course, the iconic family shot on the lawns of Government House, we've pulled together the best pics over the ages.
