Brighten up your cool monochrome with a stunning lipstick.

Regardless of the season or current trends, the simplicity of monochrome makes it a timeless wardrobe classic.

I adore this outfit from taylor's ­pre-collection for SS15/16, made up from simple foundation pieces that combine to become a chic head-to-toe ensemble.

For a one-piece addition to your wardrobe, my selections include Maurie & Eve's Cameron jumpsuit made from a textile featuring an abstract black line on a white base and Charmaine Reveley's Portland Frock - a loose-fit long sleeve dress in a striking animal print.

Alternatively, make up your monochrome outfit out of black-and-white separates. Staple + Cloth's Castle Top is a classic piece with its boat neck and bracelet-length sleeve, worn with the Golden pleated midi-length skirt. Sheryl May offers a simple White the Folk dress in a jacquard textile, styled here with her striped faux fur Folkin Expensive jacket for an easy look to take you from day to night.

One of my favourite local designers is Lucy McIntosh. Her Engrave skirt is finished with a sheer mesh band and teamed with a simple white shirt and classic leather motorcycle jacket in a non-traditional combination that oozes style. And here are some wonderful black Andrea Moore pieces matched with a graphic black and white print top for an easy go-to outfit to suit most people.

To add that pop of colour when rocking monochrome, it's hard to beat a bright lippy. Check out The Line Up for some of my favourites. First up is L'Oreal Paris's dark velvety matte finish in Bloody Mary, then Karen Murrell's bold Fuchsia Shock followed by M.A.C's bright coral colourway, named Reel Sexy. The final treat is YSL's Rouge Volupte Shine in Rose Intime with a soft, transparent finish in a fuchsia-tinged rose.

So keep it simple, keep it chic and revel in a little black-and-white action.
