It's happened to all of us. Jesse (Ashton Kutcher, That 70s Show) and Chester (Seann William Scott, American Pies I and 2), wake up unable to remember much about the previous night.
They do know that Jesse's car is missing, they now own a refrigerator
full of unusual objects and their girlfriends (Jennifer Garner and Marla Sokoloff) are mad that the guys trashed their house.
As you would, these stoned, sex-obsessed, slacker flatmates try to piece together what they did the previous night. Apparently one of them made out with the hottest girl in town (Kristy Swanson), they were the hit of a strip club, and a transsexual stripper gave them a suitcase of money.
Oh, and somehow they got hold of a "continuum transfunctioner" — a device that, they are told by intergalactic space babes and others, will determine the fate of the universe. This is the kind of movie in which somebody really says that.
They will spend the rest of the movie trying to find out exactly what happened during this intense night of partying and to get their car back so that they can visit their girlfriends, offer them anniversary presents and get some much coveted "special treats" in return.
They will meet, in addition to the aforementioned, a Fellini-esque cast of characters including a wannabe Zen master and his stoned dog; a gang of neighbourhood bullies; a bunch of alien invaders from another planet; and a herd of wild ostriches. The usual inhabitants of any Middle American movie city.
If you are over ... oh, say 35, and persevere with this movie for longer than, say, 20 minutes, you may be moved to make uncharitable comments about the next generation which will undoubtedly include references like "the attention span of a mouse" and "inhabiting a sad universe devoid of commodities such as books, aspiration or a sense of purpose."
If you are under ... oh, say 35, you may enjoy the political incorrectness, laughing at blind children and homosexuals, just like you enjoyed Wayne's World, the Pies, or anything by the Farrelly brothers.
