Eddie Murphy repeats his 1998 success as the vet who can talk to the animals. Dolittle now runs a clinic that offers, among other things, therapy groups for ownerless dogs. His daughter (Raven Symone) is 16 and starting to date and his lawyer wife (Kristen Wilson) tolerates a house and garden full of critters.

There's a crisis when nasties want to take out a forest and the animals, led by a beaver, ask Dolittle to save their home. Mostly, though, it's Murphy's usual broad humour for the younger brothers and sisters of his Nutty Professor fan club.
