Have you always preferred the taste of Coke from a glass bottle, rather than a can or plastic bottle?
There's now a scientific explanation as to why people find sipping the soda from glass tastes better.
US University professors have revealed that while Coke manufacturers dissolve the same volume ofcarbon dioxide into their plastic and aluminium products, plastic is more CO2-permeable, meaning the fizz will leak from plastic bottles faster than glass or a can.

Biochemist Sara Risch explains that the material that allows for the least altered flavour is glass because it's the least chemically reactive.
Plastic bottles have an acetaldehyde lining which is designed to stop interactions. But it also transfers into the flavour of the drink, creating that "plasticy aftertaste" many people experience.
While glass may be the best for flavour, many will opt for a can, perhaps because it cools faster when refrigerated.
