There is hope if you're looking for a new flame to spark up your love life. Kiwi dating site FindSomeone, run by Trade Me, expected double the usual number of sign-ups in December and January, followed by a 33 per cent spike in the lead-up to Valentine's Day.
FindSomeone bossDaniel Bridges said the holidays were "an emotional time of year" and a time when people were thinking about who they wanted to spend their time off with.
"People are thinking about sharing their Christmas and their summer holiday with someone they care about.
"As a result, we're seeing a big lift in sign-ups to the site as people look to find a date for New Year's Eve, shake up their love life at the start of the year or get in early on their 2016 resolutions."
If your name is Carly or Lucas you could be in with more of a chance than most for finding a last-minute hot date to kiss at midnight tomorrow.
According to FindSomeone data, these are the "hottest" names of the year.
The science of determining who is hottest is based on the number of smiles and messages people with certain names received on average, along with the number of profile views, said Mr Bridges.
"It's good news for people with the name Carly or Lucas - or maybe their partners - as these are officially the hottest dating names of 2015."
