Wrapping fails have been some of the most common this Christmas, with thousands taking to Instagram to show off their creations.

One woman spent hours wrapping her gifts in adorable dog themed wrapping paper before realising she had missed one crucial step.

"I really wish I'd put the gift tags on the presents before I started putting them under the tree!" She wrote.

Another showed off her handiwork after she had run out of wrapping paper - the crafty mother patching the gift up with scraps from different rolls.

"When one of your husbands Christmas gifts is too big for a single roll of wrapping paper... #wifewin," she wrote.

Another woman found herself in an awkward situation when she realised the wrapping paper she purchased was transparent.

"When you hastily buy what you think are two rolls of silver wrapping paper, stash them, leave wrapping your presents till the last minute then discover it is F*****G TRANSPARENT WRAPPING PAPER," the defeated woman wrote.

"Like WHO EVEN MAKES THAT and why the ABSOLUTE LIVING F*** did you have it IN THE SAME BASKET as the normal wrapping paper, f*** my ACTUAL life ffs."

Other people shared photos of their dead Christmas trees - some reduced to a pile of twigs by Christmas Day.

"When you arrive at your grandparents house for Christmas and realise that the tree you decorated just a couple weeks ago, looks like this now! And yes, there was water in the base," a woman wrote next to a photo of a dead tree covered in lights.

"Note to self: Fake tree next year," another wrote next to her sad looking tree.
Cooking fails have not been uncommon, with gingerbread houses and Christmas puddings proving to be a challenge for many.

Many have shared snaps of their blackened puddings and completely destroyed houses - most of them lacking roofs or collapsed in on themselves.

Fashion fails have also been posted to social media - one of the most notable of a woman showing off her very small Christmas jumper.

"Sooo I ordered myself a Christmas sweater...I was pretty excited about it not gonna lie....and then it gets here...and apparently I ordered a little girls medium instead of an adult medium and now I'm sad," she wrote.

Another attempted to recreate a fun Rudolph-inspired hairstyle but the final result wasn't quite what she had in mind.

"Looks like an owl," she wrote.
