A collection of savoury and sweet offerings in the cabinet looked tempting, however.
The look is industrial - indeed, the building is an assemblage of four shipping containers that won an architectural design award in 2013. The indoor dining area is relatively small. Itis much nicer to sit on the deck - or at one of the picnic tables on the lawn in front - to contemplate the beach view.
The coffee, Allpress, was good, however it didn't arrive until after we'd finished our food, despite our having ordered it on arrival.
We ordered the Long Bay big breakfast with grilled tomato, streaky bacon, beef, garlic and herb sausages and sauteed mushrooms, on toasted ciabatta ($24.50); and the corn fritters with streaky bacon and poached egg ($18.50). We were impressed with the very bright yolks of the farm-fresh eggs.
The service was rather slow on our visit, even though it wasn't particularly busy.
Overall we thought more could be done to capitalise on the spirit of the cafe's location on the menu. However, it is a relaxing spot well worth an expedition to the northern bay.
