Address: 570B Te Atatu Rd, Te Atatu Peninsula Herald rating:
The menu is non-existent. This is a sweet, small deli that offers good coffee, breads, smoothies, and a selection of savoury and sweet treats - scones, cakes, muffins, slices, salads, rolls and quiches.
The look is "gritty with a touch of pretty", according to local owner Kate James. The smallstore used to be the De Luxe Dairy and Milk Bar and has had a cool refit with shelving on one side full of gourmet produce from the likes of Sabato, Wild Wheat artisan breads and Harmony Butcher meats, charcuterie, olives and more. There is a communal table if you're eating in, as well as window bar stools, and a table or two outside.
The food is limited but very good. We tried a bap filled with grilled vegetables and relish, a savoury scone, a lemon curd slice and a chocolate chilli cupcake. All were lovely, but the big winner was the lemon curd slice - delicious!
The coffee is Kokako and very good, with the right amount of crema, and perfect strength.
The service is unassuming and kind. You order at the counter and our coffees and food were delivered very quickly with a smile.
Overall, this is a lovely little spot to grab a coffee, a small bite to eat and some gourmet goodies to take away if you're in the area. Te Atatu Peninsula has a couple of good cafes (including the superb Luscious Foodstore) but this is a different vibe; a place to duck in if you're short on time or if you want to get some great supplies.
