British dame named 'Body of the Year'

Dame Helen Mirren says Jennifer Lopez is "about one thousand per cent more beautiful" than her, despite beating the songstress in a Body of the Year poll.

The 66-year-old British actress, who is famed for her natural beauty and elegant style, took the Best Body honours in the poll which was taken by over 2000 members of LA Fitness gym.

Mirren earned almost 18 per cent of the votes compared to Lopez, 42, who took nearly eight per cent of the tally.

Mirren has remained modest about the result, and says Lopez, who is renowned for her stunning beauty, deserved the award more than her.

"I think the voting was rigged in some way. It had to have been. J-Lo is about one thousand per cent more beautiful from the top of her head to her little toe," she quipped in an interview with USA Today.

"I'm grateful for small mercies. I'll put it that way."

Mirren also beat a bevy of other beauties in the poll. Elle 'The Body' Macpherson gained 10.6 per cent of the vote, while British socialite Pippa Middleton took four per cent.

Mirren's husband, filmmaker Taylor Hackford, is currently working on the film Parker with Lopez. The Oscar-winning actress vowed to put voters of the poll to right when she next visits the set of the movie.

"When I get on set I am going to have a photo taken next to J-Lo to show what a terrible mistake they have made," she said.

"I know she will be absolutely gracious and funny about it."

British footballer David Beckham was voted best male body, followed by actors Daniel Craig and Johnny Depp.
