How do you follow up the left-field hit of the millennium? The producers hired Joe Berlinger, who made his name with two documentaries arguing that three innocent young men from Arkansas are in prison because of local hysteria over teenagers who wear black and
listen to heavy metal music. Meanwhile, a person who seems to be the real killer all but confesses to the camera.
BW2 opens as a documentary about the effect of BW1 on Burkittsville. Tourists flock in, locals sell twig-sculptures on e-Bay and the sheriff turfs witch-hunters out of the woods. One group has signed up for an overnight Blair Witch Hunt with a guide (Jeff Donovan) who turns out to be a former psychiatric patient. Erica practises white-magic; Stephen and his pregnant girlfriend, Tristen, are writing a book on the film; and Kim dresses in black and says: "Where I come from, people believe because I dress in black, I'm some kind of killer." (Wonder where she got that idea from?) There is a confrontation with another tour group, a death, and the sheriff gets involved.
