Veteran American hip-hop trio the Beastie Boys, whose songs Fight For Your Right and Intergalactic made them one of the most successful rap groups in the world, will headline this year's Big Day Out.
Other drawcards are yarn spinning Brit-rap geezer the Streets, American political metallers System Of A Down, danceduo the Chemical Brothers, and New Zealand BDO veterans Shihad and the D4.
Today organisers made the first of three lineup announcements also confirming the Music, the Donnas, Freestylers, John Butler Trio, Powderfinger, Grinspoon, and local acts Misfits Of Science, Steriogram, Concord Dawn, the Bleeders, and TrinityRoots.
Tickets to the annual festival have broken the $100 barrier for the first since it started in 1994.
The music festival at Ericsson Stadium on January 21 will cost punters $103, making it the same price as in Australia. Tickets to the last event cost $98.
