How very Auckland to take credit for the All Blacks' success and conveniently forget the Blues dismal performance this season.
Overall, the reaction seems to be that New Zealanders hate it, but those overseas love it and want to visit as a result.
"i just watched the auckland snapchat and MAN I WANNA GO TO NEW ZEALAND/AUSTRALIA SO BAD OH MY GOD," said @RlANTIMELOW.
"Got to listen to the Auckland snapchat story with sound because the accents are just way too nice", said @MickelobeSmalls
Others compared it to their own hometown's Snapchat story.
"Funny the comparison between Liverpool life and Auckland on snapchat at the same time, just embarrasses England so much" said @helderfig_.
Kiwis living overseas also seemed to enjoy the story, which induced nostalgic feelings for many.
Perhaps predictably, locals were unimpressed with the effort describing it as "boring", "embarrassing" and "cringe".
Others bemoaned the fact that clips were submitted on a dull Tuesday in Autumn, rather than at the height of summer when the city would be at its best.
"I want to vomit all over the Auckland snapchat story", tweeted @littlewhiskey_.
One Reddit user even suggested a new slogan for the city: "Auckland. There's not much happening, eh?"
But perhaps the reaction shows it's best to look at a city through fresh eyes - even if we all take the Sky Tower and Marmite for granted.
