Animating Gore's heated message

An Inconvenient Truth follows Al Gore on his campaign to spread the word about global warming.

An Auckland animation company has worked on a movie about the environmental escapades of former US Vice-President Al Gore.

An Inconvenient Truth, which screens at the Auckland International Film Festival, follows Gore on his campaign to spread the word about the effects of global warming.

Auckland-based Flux Animation created two animated sequences for the film.

The first, directed by Andrew Newland, looks at the plight of a polar bear searching for a scrap of ice, and another, by Fraser Monroe, shows the effect on a frog in water as it is heated to boiling point.

Flux managing director, Brent Chambers, and his 12-year-old son Max, also appear briefly in the film from when they travelled to the US for one of Gore's talks.

An Inconvenient Truth shows at the Civic on July 16 at 11am; and July 19 at 6.15pm.
