Actress Brittany Murphy engaged

LOS ANGELES - Actress Brittany Murphy, who played a newlywed opposite Ashton Kutcher in the film comedy "Just Married," became engaged to her boyfriend over Christmas, People magazine has reported.

Murphy, who also starred alongside Dakota Fanning in "Uptown Girls," got engaged to Joe Macaluso over the Christmas holidays, the magazine reported on its website.

According to People, the Georgia-born Murphy, 28, met Macaluso, a production assistant, on the set of her 2004 film "Little Black Book."

Murphy's representatives could not immediately be reached for comment.
