Pedestrian dead after being hit by vehicle on Kapiti Coast

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle north of Wellington this morning.

Police say the crash happened on Matatua Rd at Raumati Beach just after 8am.

Emergency services performed CPR but could not save the person, who died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and diversions are in place.
