A special kohatu, or mauri stone, has been gifted to the coast to help raise money for Kapiti's Youth Quest division.
The kohatu was gifted by Motungarara Island resident Karl Webber and will be raffled off once tickets are sold, which can be purchased for a koha.
"This kohatu comes from the seabed around Motungarara Island, at the south end of Kapiti Island," Mr Webber said.
"The geological energy where the South Island meets Kapiti is active and strong and imbued into this kohatu."
He encouraged people to make a donation and take a ticket for the charitable raffle, which is set up at Paraparaumu Beach's High Tide Café.
After 10 years on the coast, Youth Quest continues to reply on grants, sponsorship and donations to fuel its character mentoring based programme, which has had proven successful results for dozens of young local males.
"The kohatu has come on a journey through time and to the mainland.
"Now it's gifted to raise funds for one of the many wonderful charitable groups we have on the Kapiti Coast."
