Influential Maori leader Sir Henare Kohere Ngata has died.
Sir Henare served in World War II and was later appointed chairman of the Mangatu Incorporation.
He was also the chairman and convener of the Maori Land Committee of the Maori Council, serving on the council from 1960 to 1984.
