The Maori Women’s Welfare League (MWWL) was "unlawful" in dropping Hannah Tamaki from its ballot papers, according to the High Court.
The wife of Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki has been looking to run for the presidency of the MWWL, but filed proceedings in the High Court at Wellington earlier
this month after being dropped from ballot papers.
The MWWL suspended Mrs Tamaki's bid and began an investigation into constitutionality of 10 church-aligned branches to see whether they breached the league's non-sectarian requirements.
Today the High Court has ruled the League's actions were "unlawful", that ballots without Ms Tamaki's name on should be returned and that new ballot papers to be issued including her name.
