$14.9m treaty deal for North Taranaki iwi

North Taranaki iwi Ngati Mutunga has signed a $14.9 million treaty settlement with the Crown.

Dignitaries including Treaty Negotiations Minister Mark Burton, Speaker Margaret Wilson and New Plymouth MP Harry Duynhoven gathered yesterday at Urenui Marae to sign the deed of settlement.

They were joined by about 150 iwi and community members.

Ngati Mutunga is the fourth Taranaki iwi to settle.
