If you heard fire engines making a ruckus down Oxford Street in Levin on Friday afternoon...you would be right.
But it wasn't their usual thing they were doing.
The noise was meant to attract shoppers and business people to a worthy cause.
They were accompanying four Palmerston North firemen ona mission, who marched into Levin just after 4 o'clock.
The foursome are walking from Palmerston North to Wellington in full firefighting kit, including breathing appartus, to raise awareness for motor neurone disease.
Accompanied by those noisey fire engines, they eventually made their way down the footpath, across the road, down a side street, around the block and into the local firestation, while colleagues were busy rattling buckets collecting money.
While they walked at a steady pace, they admitted that they were tired.
Justin Storey, Jeremy Dodge, Dan Nesbit and Chris Kennedy's mision is part of a nationwide campaign: Walk 2 D'Feet MND, to raise awareness for this disease and they have got some ways to go before they reach Wellington.
