Horowhenua Chronicle's former and current staff at the paper's 125th celebration.
As the Horowhenua Chronicle publishes its final edition, I want to take a moment to reflect on the remarkable impact this community paper has had on us all.
For decades this publication has been a constant and trusted presence in the Horowhenua community — a voice for the people anda keeper of our stories.
Once known as the ‘Daily Chronicle’, it has captured the heart of the region, connecting us through its coverage of events, milestones, and issues that truly matter.
I would like to pay a special tribute to Pam Kearns for her incredible dedication spanning over four decades.
I had the privilege of working alongside Pam during my time with the paper and loved hearing her stories about the days when the building hummed with activity, the printing press at its heart, as the team worked to get the daily paper out each afternoon.

One of the most memorable moments was the Horowhenua Chronicle’s 125-year celebration, a fitting tribute that brought together former staff to share their memories and stories.
It was a reminder of the deep connections this paper has forged within our community over generations.
Though we bid farewell to now what’s become a free community newspaper, the story does not end here.
The way we consume news is changing, and as we shift to digital and online platforms, the spirit of connection, storytelling, and community will endure.
To the staff who have been part of this paper’s long and proud history, I wish you all the best for the future.
Your work has left an indelible mark on the Horowhenua, and your efforts will not be forgotten.
Thank you, Horowhenua Chronicle, for 131 years of service to this community. You have been more than a paper, you have been a part of our lives. - Vicki Timpson was the Lower North Island regional general manager
