Tammy said she mistakenly employed a "fan" who lacked proper babysitting qualifications and the difficult situation led to "one of the worst days of (her) life."

Tammy was heading to the US for three weeks when the unexpected ordeal unfolded.

The fitness entrepreneur, known for her athleisure fashion brand Saski Collection, paid a nanny to look after her son Wolf, 4, and daughter Saskia, 3, while she attended business meetings.

In her podcast, Hanging with the Hembrows, Tammy explained she had never hired a nanny before but decided to do so because she had a busy schedule ahead.

"I was like, 'Oh, well, that's good, I can bring her and I'll have someone to help me'," she said.

However, Tammy soon discovered the woman was lying about her qualifications.

"For instance, she came inside one day and she reeked of cigarette smoke. And she had told me she wasn't a smoker because I don't want that around my kids," Tammy said on her podcast.

"I was like, 'You smell like smoke', and she was like, 'Oh, I quit for this job'. And I was like, 'Well, obviously you didn't quit because you smell like smoke'."

Adding to Tammy's suspicion, the nanny claimed she was unable to lift the children because of a back injury.

"I was like, 'Well, you know I have two little babies who need to be picked up sometimes. Like, what? I wouldn't have hired you, you know'. I was getting so frustrated."

But the worst was yet to come.

It was while waiting at LAX airport for their flight back to Australia that Tammy vowed to never hire a nanny again.

She had asked the woman to keep an eye on her children while she got their passports out, but when Tammy looked over, "Wolf just has blood pouring out of his head."

Tammy, who was alerted to the incident by another passenger, discovered the nanny and her daughter were nowhere to be seen.

The nanny eventually came back with Saskia, claiming the little girl had run off.

"I was in a bit of a panic at that point. I was frustrated because I just saw all this blood, and I was freaked out a little bit. I was already a bit agitated, so I was getting a bit angry at her," Tammy explained.

To her surprise, the nanny then burst into tears and complained she was going to miss her flight.

"I had to take Wolf to the emergency room, so I wasn't going to be able to go on the flight, and I expected her to be coming with us to help with the kids," Tammy said.

"I had six giant suitcases and two little babies, and all of a sudden, she starts crying, 'I'm not missing this flight'."

Tammy later revealed she ordered the woman to "just go".

"And then it was just me, crying. I was trying to hold it together, but I could not," she said.

The mother said she just "bawled" her eyes out, crying, "and I was holding Wolf's head, the blood … Saskia was crying, and I have, like, six giant suitcases."

She took Wolf to the hospital where he had "his head glued back together" and made a full recovery.

According to Tammy, her sister Amy interviewed and hired the nanny for the trip to LA – "I swear, all she wanted to do was hang out with me! She was a fan!" Tammy said, adding the nanny would get frustrated when she would be gone for most of the day.

"She would get annoyed with me whenever I went to do something. I'd be gone the whole afternoon, and she'd be like, 'Oh, I just wanted to talk to you and hang out with you'.

"I literally do not want (a nanny) ever again.

"It was the worst experience ever."

Tammy said she now preferred to leave her children with her mother or sisters.
