Zsa Zsa Gabor was released from hospital on Sunday to celebrate her 94th birthday at home.
The ailing actress - who was rushed to Los Angeles' UCLA Medical Centre last week after she started violently spitting up blood - was allowed to go to her Beverly Hills mansion, where she
greeted with a special serenade from legendary singer Englebert Humperdinck.
Her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt - who was treated in hospital last week for stress and exhaustion - bought her a cake and held a small celebration with close friends for her.
Her publicist John Blanchette revealed: "They did a magnificent job getting her back. They treated her with an aggressive treatment of antibiotics. The doctors said it was 50-50, but it worked."
Despite her ill health, John said the screen legend - who had part of her right leg amputated last month after gangrene set in - was managing to stay in good spirits.
"This has been a long, tough road since 2002, when she had an accident that originally disabled her. She has never been able to walk and her health has spiralled down.
"But she has kept her sense of humour and she's a fighter. She always has been."
Zsa Zsa - who has been married seven times - has been in and out of hospital since suffering from two blood clots following hip surgery last July, and was even read her last rites by a priest in November.
Just last month, she was admitted to the UCLA Medical Centre after doctors became concerned she may lose her life if the limb wasn't amputated.
While the operation was considered a success, the star has been receiving round-the-clock care by a dedicated team of specialists ever since being allowed to return to her Los Angeles estate on January 22.
