Zayn Malik has cancelled most of his upcoming tour dates - including the entire US leg - after he was hospitalised with an unspecified illness on the release day of his new album.
In an update to fans, the 33-year-old said he’s “been at home recovering” from the mystery ailmentand expects to return “better and stronger than before”, having been admitted the day his new album Konnakol went live.
The former One Direction singer was meant to begin a solo tour across the UK and the Americas this month, but his health issues have forced a major revision to his upcoming concert commitments.
“I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the Konnakol Tour," Malik said.
“I want to make sure I still get out and see as many of you as I possibly can.
“I’m really looking forward to playing these shows for you, and I hope to see the rest of you around the world very soon.”

Announced in February, the tour was originally set to open at Manchester’s AO Arena on May 12, followed by additional dates across the UK and Ireland.
Malik was then scheduled to travel to the US, Mexico and South America, where most of the shows were planned.
Under the revised itinerary, Malik will now open the tour in London on May 23, with his Manchester concert rescheduled to the following day.
Those will be his only two UK dates; two other concerts in Birmingham and Glasgow have been cancelled.
Malik has also scrapped all 20 US dates planned between July and November, leaving American fans without a chance to see him live in the foreseeable future.
Three shows in Mexico and others in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Peru are still expected to go ahead.

“To my fans: Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers and well wishes for my health,“ Malik said.
He said the unexpected stay meant he could no longer meet fans or promote his new album as planned.
“Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be in the place I am today without you guys and am so thankful for your understanding,” Malik wrote.
“Thank you to the incredible hospital staff of Drs, nurses, cardiologist, management, admin and everyone who has helped along the way and continue to. You are all legends! Big big love xx z. [sic]”
