'Your talent was pure': Tributes flow after the death of grunge icon Chris Cornell

Tributes are flowing from fellow musicians after the death of Chris Cornell at the age of 52.

Tributes are flowing from heartbroken friends and musicians after Chris Cornell's death.

The Soundgarden and Audioslave front man died at the age of 52 following a Soundgarden concert in Detroit.

Fellow musicians have reacted in shock and sadness at the news.

Linkin Park front man Chester Bennington posted a lengthy tribute on Twitter, saying he was "weeping with sadness" after hearing the news.

Cornell's Audioslave band mate Tom Morello said he was "devastated and deeply saddened".

And Courntey Love said simply: "Goodbye darling boy. Please say hi to all my loved ones. I cried for you today. Rip."

This picture of Chris was taken side stage Sunday night. At this point I had seen soundgarden probably 20 times and he had never sounded so good. This man was a unicorn to me. Words can not describe how confused I am over this. My heart goes out to his beautiful family and the band. RIP 💔

Chris Cornell R.I.P. 1964-2017 Condolences to friends and family and fans. One of my favorite songwriters. One of my biggest influences actually. I'll be chasing Black Hole Sun forever. We met once at a jam session in Seattle. You were shockingly humble. Too much talent. Soundgarden absolutely needs to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Not that it mattered to Chris. He didn't care. But as he said, the fans do and that's why it matters. It's so sad. 52 is way way too young. @soundgarden
