X-Factor takes lead in ratings war with Our First Home

They say it's up to viewers to vote with their remote and it seems the public have chosen X-Factor over TV One's new DIY show, Our First Home.

After initially losing out to Our First Home when the series first went head-to-head on Sunday night, X-Factor's ratings have grown, while Our First Home's continue to decline.

Last night's episode saw 344,00 Kiwis tune into X-Factor, while 305,000 chose TV One.

Monday night's ratings also showed Kiwis choosing the singing show over the DIY programme, which has seen its ratings fall from Sunday night's peak of 345,000.

Both series are major investments for their respective networks and have been touted as flagship shows for the broadcasters.

Our First Home has been trumped in the ratings by X-Factor NZ.

But Our First Home met with lacklustre reviews when it premiered last week and has failed to draw the ratings typical for other TV One local series, such as Masterchef NZ.

Last year, Masterchef screened in the same timeslot, attracting an average audience of 386,000 per episode. TVNZ chose not to renew the series for this year, due to falling ratings.

Instead, TV3 picked up the rights to the cooking show, which is expected to screen later this year, most likely in direct competition with TVNZ's cooking format, MKR NZ.

Our First Home has averaged an audience of 338,000 viewers since it began screening two weeks ago.
