Why Elton John is sick of Ed Sheeran

He is good pals with Ed Sheeran and has even acted as a mentor for him during his rise to the top.

But Sir Elton John has now warned the flame-haired chart topper that his fame will not last forever and also added that he was sick of his hearing his tunes on the radio according to DailyMail.

Speaking on George Ezra's podcast, the iconic singer, 71, admitted: 'You have a heyday and you have a rest, and the heyday can never be replaced.'

Drawing upon his own journey of music stardom, Elton continued: 'After that I had the common sense to know I'm not going to have a No.1 every time straight away. I knew someone else would take over. It's cyclical.'

The Tiny Dancer hitmaker admitted that the same rules will apply to the Castle On The Hill singer: 'Ed will go through that and I've talked to him about it. I've said, "There'll come a time where this won't happen every time and you have to accept that".'

Continuing to detail his slight annoyance, Elton revealed: 'On the (American radio) chart, which is the middle-of-the-road chart, Ed is still No.1 and Shape Of You is still in the chart.

'It's like, "Why?" How many times do you want to listen to these things?'

This comes after Elton revealed he no longer goes on riotous nights out for fear of being snapped by someone on their mobile phone.

Elton said he 'hates' mobile phones and said they mean he no longer has any privacy when out in public.

The father of two admitted he used to have it 'so easy' and was able to behave 'extraordinarily badly' in public and get away with it.

He said: 'I hate mobile phones, camera phones. I don't go out anymore. There's no privacy anymore. When I started out there were no mobile phones, no kind of paparazzi, we had it so easy.

'You can afford to be out of your mind and behave extraordinarily badly in public and no one would be able to take a photograph, which I did many times! Unfortunately that's all changed with the advent of technology. Going out now is an effort.'
