Anna Marshall hit back at Mike Puru after she was eliminated from The Bachelor NZ.

Anna Marshall was shocked when she didn't get a rose from Jordan Mauger - but it was a quip from Bachelor host Mike Puru that surprised her even more.

A stunned Marshall became the third girl to leave The Bachelor NZ last night when Mauger left her without a rose during the rose ceremony.

Metz also left last night, deciding the show was too "intense" for her to continue.

Marshall admitted she was stunned about her elimination, but she really saw red over Puru's comments at the end of the episode.

"He said, 'Anna your journey for true love ends here,' and I said, 'Not necessarily'.

"I wasn't going to stand there and take that, because it's not over," she said.

"I think he meant to say, 'Your journey for love with Jordan is now over'. In future episodes he may have to change his wording on that one."

Marshall, who entered the show as part of More FM's wildcard competition, said she and Mauger didn't spend enough time together to get to know each other.

"He really didn't take the time to get to know me, and vice versa. I went on two group dates - it was more than some had had at that particular time but it was a really social, friendly (event) and you had to fight for his attention. I really had no one-on-one time," she said.

"Whatever reason he used to send me home was in the end his own personal reason and that's cool."

She believes controversial Bachelor contestant Naz "did not want me on the show".

Why people act strangely on The Bachelor

14 Mar 05:34 PM

"She had five (girls) on her hitlist and I was on top of her list. She made that very clear - but not to me. She was so nice to my face.

"I had no idea. We're not friends. She had something against me ... If he's into that then good luck to them both I say. I don't want anything to do with people like that. "

Marshall said the rose ceremonies and cocktail parties were the most "intense" part of the romance reality show and her elimination was a blur.

"I had absolutely no idea, I was shocked, I just thought, 'Oh, it's over, my time's over, it's all so soon'. Initially it was shock, then it just becomes kind of a blur.

"No girls really have any idea that they're going home. It's a shock for anyone who leaves. I was definitely shocked - you could see it on my face."

Despite her elimination, she was proud of how she handled herself on the show.

"I was only going to be myself. A lot of the girls will push others out of the way to fight for his attention, but that was never me. I sat back and he knew I was there and if he wanted to talk to me he could have come and talked to me. He chose not to and so be it.

"I was open minded ... I was there with the right intentions."
