The good news is that Tina Fey's slyly subversive, pop explosion Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is back! The bad news is that this is its final season. Boo.
With the clock now counting down, the show is pulling no punches with its social commentary. One episode is literally called Kimmy Disrupts the Paradigm, which could almost be the show's motto. Serious topics like #MeToo are tackled but twisted by having it be Kimmy doing the sexual harassing, albeit mistakenly. Once again the show's on point, on fire and filled with more 90s references than a CD-Rom of Microsoft Encarta. Kids, ask your parents about that last one... Available now.

Paris Etc. (Lightbox)

If you couldn't help but wonder what Sex & the City would be like if it was modern and set in Paris instead of New York, tune into Lightbox's new dramedy. To better reflect the times Paris Etc. is far more grounded and realistic than S&tC's fanciful escapism, with Jimmy Choos traded for job anxieties and chugging cosmos replaced with juggling children. The group dynamic is also gone, replaced with the more singular stories of its five female leads. Available now.

Colossal (Neon)

Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis star in this low-budget monster movie that is really about personal demons, self-destructive behaviour and alcoholism. Which is heavy stuff, but also, monsters...
The film's full of surprise, not obvious and goes to some fairly dark places as the personal relationship between its stars plays out while half a world away giant creatures destroy Seoul. Yes, Colossal is a weird movie, but damn is it a good one. Available now.
