During last night's VMA's, MTV premiered the first trailer for their much anticipated Game of Thrones-esque fantasy show.
The Shannara Chronicles is based on the series of the same name by American author Terry Brooks. The series is set in a world where civilisation has been destroyed and magic and
monsters have emerged, and elves and humans fight against the Demons that plague their world.
The first season follows a trio, played by Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton and Ivana Baquero, who set out to stop a demon from destroying the Four Lands that make up their home.
The 10-part series was filmed in New Zealand earlier this year. Sweeping shots of local scenery are highlighted in the mostly dialogue-free trailer, which instead focuses on characters and effects.
The trailer plays up the shows fantastical elements. Quick shots of sword fighting, magical ceremonies and strange creatures are played in quick succession, as well as longer takes of CGI-created set pieces.
