Watch: The new Fifty Shades Darker trailer shows fans exactly what to expect

The new Fifty Shades Darker trailer has been released and it has definitely upped the drama..and the weirdness.

The second instalment for the film franchise - based on the bestselling book trilogy by E L James - sees Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) get hot and steamy once again.

Only this time, there seems to be less of the S&M that was previously predicted to appear and instead, much more romance and passion. The trailer starts with Grey approaching Steel to have dinner with him after their split.

She reluctantly agrees, telling him, "Yes, I will have dinner with you because I'm hungry, but we are only talking and that is it."

It gets progressively more intense from here on in as they spend time together to reignite their love - if casually taking off your knickers in the middle of a crowded restaurant counts as "reigniting love".

Yes it's kind of over the top, but fans didn't seem deterred by that aspect the first time around, plus that sexed-up Miguel cover of Beyonce's Crazy in Love undeniably sets the mood.

Fifty Shades Darker hits theatres on February 10, 2017.
