The first full-length trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out now.
MarvelStudios has released the first full-length trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, promising further cosmic adventures for the titular heroes.
The new trailer, showing Rocket Racoon and Baby Groot bickering over an atomic bomb, continues to keep the film's premise mostly under wraps, but what we do knowis that Vol. 2 will revolve around the parentage of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). Kurt Russell will portray Quill's father, a "living planet" known as Ego.
Rocket now has to spend his time taking care of Baby Groot.
The vagueness of all Guardians of the Galaxy press material has been an intentional choice, director James Gunn has explained.
"With Guardians, people really go through every single little shot and try to figure out what the movie's about," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "And there's a lot of mysteries in Guardians 2."
He also revealed that the memorable teaser trailer for the original Guardians of the Galaxy was nearly scrapped.

"That trailer tested not very well," he said. "We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was - that tested a little better."
Eventually the marketing team at Disney decided to best reflect the tone of the film, and went with Gunn's preferred teaser.
"You've got to sell the movie for what it is, and that's what they did. They really bought my trust with that on the first movie."
The humour fans loved from the first film is definitely back this time around.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is also the first Marvel Studios film to be shot using the new RED Weapon 8k camera, which shoots at an incredibly high resolution, resulting in what will likely be sharper, more vibrant imagery. It's also called the RED Weapon, so you just know that it's something big and cool and new.
The move should quell the nagging complaint that Marvel have largely avoided visual vibrancy, preferring a colour palette of grey, dark grey, and a slightly lighter grey. Based on the Vol. 2 trailer, we're in for a rare feast for the eyes from the studio.
