"It's its own thing," he said.
As Cade Yeager, Wahlberg is a dedicated father to a teenage daughter [Nicola Peltz] who unwittingly gets caught between the Autobots, Decepticons and a paranoid government official.
"I'm just an ordinary guy who has to do some pretty extraordinary things to keep my daughter alive."
Joining the franchise partly because his kids are huge fans, the 42-year-old even managed to get them on set for a day to shoot a cameo. But with director Michael Bay in the editing suite, time will tell whether it made the cut.
"But I prepared them for that," he said. "They definitely have more talent than me, all of them in their own way."
While he's happy to play a protective dad onscreen, Wahlberg admits he's relieved his own daughters aren't anywhere near dating age.
"It's definitely something I have to prepare myself for," the father of four said.
