Racing is a four piece rock’n’roll band from Auckland, New Zealand. Formed in 2014, they came together to stir up their own secret recipe of heavy, intoxicating music. The sound is born of rock’n’roll but injected with the hypnosis of dance music, the soul melodies of Motown and the wide, heavy riffs of desert rock.
Ed Knowles and Sven Pettersen of The Checks, Izaak Houston of Space Creeps and Dan Barrett of Sherpa, have joined forces to form new psychedelic-rock band Racing.
Today Racing debut the colourful music video for Stereo Fields, a song from their recently released self-titled EP.
Lead singer Knowles describes theirsound as "music that belongs in moments of elevation ... 2am on the dance floor, ripping through the air at a festival, or as the soundtrack to a car chase in a film.
"I can't imagine people putting it on to do the dishes," he says.
Racing are currently on tour, still to perform in Napier, July 17 at Cabana, Wellington, July 18 at Bodega, and Auckland, August 14 at the King's Arms.
