Two found dead at Los Angeles home of film-maker Rob Reiner

Two people have been found dead in the Los Angeles home of film-maker Rob Reiner.

Variety reported a heavy police presence at the Brentwood mansion the Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally... director shares with his wife Michele Singer.

A Los Angeles Fire Department official confirmed the deceased were a man, 78, and a woman, 68. The deceased are yet to be identified, but their ages match that of Reiner and Singer.

Firefighters responded at 3.38pm to a medical aid call at a home in the 250 block of Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood, the LAFD said.

Los Angeles Police Department sources told ABC News that an initial death investigation had developed into a murder case.

The pair was found with what has been described as “knife wounds”, the Daily Mail reports.

The couple has three children Jake, Nick and Romy.

Reiner is the adoptive father of the daughter of his first wife, the late actress and director Penny Marshall.

Representatives for Reiner are yet to comment.

Reiner was a prominent director, his work included Stand By Me (1986), Princess Bride (1987), A Few Good Men (1992) and The Bucket List (2007).

He was also known for his acting, appearing in New Girl, The Bear and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Celebrities have paid tribute to the director and his wife.

Elijah Wood, who worked with the director in the 1994 movie North, said he was “horrified to hear of the passing of Rob Reiner and his wonderful wife Michelle".

“So much love to their kids and family.”

Ben Stiller said Reiner was “one of my favorite directors”.

“He made some of the most formative movies for my generation. He came out form behind a huge comedic shadow of the great Carl Reiner and being a tv actor to being a a great director who made an incredible run of movies.

“Spinal Tap is one of the best comedies ever made - and the list goes on. He was a kind caring person who was really really funny. I didn’t know him well but was always a fan and I feel a real sadness for those who did, and his family.”
