He is a difficult character to like, but now Game of Thrones fans have the opportunity to topple King Joffrey.
Ahead of the television series' fourth season, audiences across the world can help bring down a seven meter statue of the character that has been errected in Auckland's Aotea Square.
The statue of King Joffrey is expected to fall in five days.
Fans are tasked with harnessing power of social media to topple the king, using the Twitter hashtag #bringdowntheking.
A rope will be positioned around the King's neck, and every tweet will bring the statue closer to toppling.
Organisers expect it to take five days or one million tweets to pull the statue down.
Travis Dunbar, SKY's director of programming, says: "Game of Thrones is a worldwide phenomenon and King Joffrey is quite possibly the most hated fictional television character of all time. It's exciting to give fans an opportunity they are dying for; to assist in the demise of the King of the Iron Throne".
Fans will be able to watch the stunts progress via a live webcam stream. and watch as the boy-king statue eventually falls via a webcam live stream.
To launch the show's third season, a 40-foot-long dragon skull "washed up" on a beach in Dorset, England.
