ABC's Dirty Dancing remake has hit screens and viewers are taking to Twitter in droves to share their hilariously savage opinions of the film.
The 3-hour TV special comes 30 years after the original film was released, and stars Abigail Breslin (Baby Houseman), Colt Prattes (Johnny Castle), Sarah Hyland (LisaHouseman), Debra Messing (Marjorie Houseman), Nicole Scherzinger (Penny Rivera), Katey Sagal (Vivian Pressman) and Bruce Greenwood (Dr. Jake Houseman).
Messing told PEOPLE: "This isn't a replica of the original. This takes some liberties," and if the fan reaction is anything to go by, it took more than it should have.
Critics have already slammed the remake, with the AV Club calling it "a dull after-school special", USA Today calling it the "time of your life you'll never get back" and the Atlantic calling it a "sad, strange production", asking: "What was ABC thinking? How could a simple remake go so wrong?"
Similarly, fans have savaged everything from the casting to the new musical element to the subtle differences in script.
It's "I carried A watermelon!" NOT "I carried HIS watermelon" ugh 🤦🏻♀️ That line is legendary, you can't change it!!! #DirtyDancingpic.twitter.com/i8gcrgfJfw
