It declared: "Still, the fact will remain: it's true.
"In fact, they're already discussing it internally. It will happen."
But Deadline reports that Lionsgate exec Rob Friedman has since issued a statement slamming the reboot rumours.
"We are not remaking Twilight," Friedman said.
"We will happily support Stephenie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one, unless that should change."
So, the studio appears to have put the kibosh on any reboots plans - for now. How about a spin-off?
Never say never...
Lionstage chief executive Jon Feltheimer suggested in January that he would like to see the series continue in some form.
"I'm anticipating Breaking Dawn Part 2 being $700m-plus in worldwide box office," he told the LA Times.
"It's hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700m-plus doesn't have ongoing value. It's an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is: 'Boy I hope so'."
The newspaper also quoted a source as saying that Lionsgate, which runs a successful TV arm, could adapt the franchise for television.
Asked whether the series could possibly find a home on the small screen, "I would certainly hope so," said Feltheimer.
