TVNZ political editor Corin Dann quits, replacement to be announced

More lineup changes are afoot at TVNZ with Corin Dann announcing he is stepping down as 1 News' political editor.

He announced the change via Twitter, saying it would take effect "in a couple of weeks".

However, Dann will continue to cover politics in Wellington as the host of another TVNZ current affairs show, Q&A, where it's understood he will replace current host Greg Boyed.

Dann's move closely follows that of Newshub's Patrick Gower, who announced in December he was stepping down as Newshub's political editor and moving to the role of national correspondent this year.

TVNZ is yet to announce a replacement for Dann but insiders are picking former deputy political editor Jessica Mutch for the role.

Mutch, who is a presenter on Q&A, recently celebrated her engagement to protection officer Iain McKay, who became an internet sensation as PM Jacinda Ardern's bodyguard during her election campaign.
