The end is nigh. This Sunday, we farewell the disco jamboree that is Dancing With The Stars as the final three compete for the ultimate prize - a shimmering, oversized mirrorball trophy. Who wouldn't want that on their mantelpiece? Actually, we suspect Chrystal Chenery would probably dump it in theskip on her way out the studio.
She'll face off against radio host Simon Barnett and actress Siobhan Marshall for the title.
Chenery is undoubtedly the best dancer in the mix but, if MediaWorks' never-ending reality line-up has taught us anything, it's that talent doesn't win the day. This is a glorified popularity contest and the former Bachelor contestant could prove a touch too polarising to win those crucial votes.
Simon Barnett and his disturbingly misnomered Dad-bod has become a firm favourite for reasons we still can't fathom. Despite winning the judges' approval, we've never moved past his prancing chicken cha-cha.
Finally, there's the always elegant Marshall, who has both grace and genuine star power behind her. Unlike other contestants, most people actually knew who she was before she hit the dance floor.
Of course, as with all reality TV, it really doesn't matter who wins. It's about the journey. And this has been a sparkling, spinning, clanger of a ride, complete with the most awkward innuendo ever to grace New Zealand television.
