Troye Sivan announces New Zealand shows

Influential Australian teen Troye Sivan has announced his first New Zealand shows today

He was listed as one of Time Magazine's most influential teenagers of 2014, his YouTube channel has four million subscribers (with over 241 million views), he's approaching a billion streams on Spotify, and now 19-year-old Perth native Troye Sivan is coming to perform in New Zealand.

His debut album Blue Neighbourhood was released in December last year, with Sivan in hot demand ever since.

He recently completed a 23-date tour of North America and has made fans out of Taylor Swift, Ellen DeGeneres and local favourites Broods.

The teen, who's been singing since he was a kid and has been a keen Youtube user for years, has had a whirlwind 2016, taking home awards at the YouTube Music Awards, Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, EMA, and just last week scooped up the gong for Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards.

But he's looking forward to getting some time to connect with his fans Downunder.

"I'm really excited to be coming to play shows in New Zealand. I've been for a holiday to Queenstown last year, but I'm really excited to be seeing a bit more of the country, and playing shows is different. To see all these numbers become real people is a pretty insane feeling."

Sivan will be playing two all-ages shows, performing at Horncastle Arena in Christchurch on Thursday July 28, and at the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday July 30, before he heads to Australia for seven shows.

There will be a 24-hour Frontier Members pre-sale here from 2pm on Thursday April 14, and general tickets go on sale from 4pm on Monday April 18.
