Trouser fears as Bedingfield shows what he's got

Tartan-wearing X Factor judge Daniel Bedingfield will wow New Zealand tomorrow night when he performs for the first time on the hit show, experts say - but they hope his pants aren't too tight.

Bedingfield gave a high-energy performance when he released his new single in Auckland this week.

He danced on the bar and was later in the night snapped cuddling up to a woman understood to be his partner.

Bedingfield, best known for his Grammy Award-winning song Gotta Get Through This, will perform Every Little Thing live on TV3 tomorrow night.

The New Zealand-born, English-raised singer wore tight turquoise trousers, fuschia-pink shoes and belt, a black and white patterned shirt and bright tie at the launch.

Among those in the audience was radio host Jay-Jay Feeney.

"He was 100 per cent into it - full noise. He is good at what he does. He definitely needs a stylist [though] - his pants were so tight, they were jeggings."

X Factor publicist Chris Henry said he didn't know anything about the woman spotted on Bedingfield's arm.

"I don't know anything about his girlfriend and he likes to keep that private, so I don't ask."

Meanwhile, another X Factor judge, Stan Walker, has said his grammar will improve when Kiwis start getting Maori pronunciation right.

To mark Maori Language Week, the 22-year-old told the Northern Advocate in Whangarei it was time Kiwis started pronouncing words like Aotearoa correctly.

He has been criticised for repeated use of words like "yous" on air.

"I'm going to keep speaking like this until people get their Maori right.

"I'm proud to be from New Zealand. I'm proud to be Maori."
