Enduring post-punk act The Fall are known for an endlessly revolving line-up based around enigmatic front man Mark E. Smith.
But Smith and the Manchester veterans will be bringing a stable quintet when they perform at Auckland's Powerstation on Saturday, October 17, and Wellington's Bodega on Sunday, October 18 -their first shows here since 2010.
The Fall have had 66 different band members over their 39-year history - an entire Wikipedia page is dedicated to naming them all chronologically. But the touring line-up for their New Zealand shows will consist of Smith, his wife Elena Poulou, Peter Greenway, Keiron Melling, and David Spurr.
At their last show here, a Herald reviewer praised Smith as "one of music's most unique specimens - both in mind, music and voice".
"Smith's chaotic stage presence is countered by his unflinching young band with beefy bass and drum grooves, and some scything and ruthless guitaring ... With this show, the Fall prove themselves one of those bands to see before you die," wrote reviewer Scott Kara.
The Fall will be playing in support of the May release of their 31st album, Sub-Lingual Tablet.
In other tour news, Florence Welch has confirmed she'll be returning to New Zealand for her fourth show here. Florence and the Machine will play Auckland's Vector Arena on November 21 on the back of third album, How Big How Blue How Beautiful.
And the line-up for the Our House dance party at Mt Smart Stadium on November 27 has also been announced, with the first confirmed acts including bass boffins Major Lazer and DJ Snake, as well as DJ Duke Dumont, Oliver Heldens and Galantis.
It will be Major Lazer's second Auckland show after performing at the 2014 Big Day Out. They'll be appearing on the back of their third album, Peace is the Mission, which features the hig single, Lean On - a collaboration with fellow headliner DJ Snake.
